Details:
Situated just across the road from Hay's Galleria, Platform occupies what was a failed strip club: the dancers' poles & exotic trappings are long gone, making way for a back-to-basics mix of looming railway arches, exposed brick & reclaimed wooden furniture. Bar snacks & post-works drinks are the main events in the relaxed ground-floor space, while attractively executed, rustic British grub is served on the galleried top floor. Menus change regularly & most of the produce is sourced from a single organic farm in Devon. Al dente asparagus spears accompanied by a dinky china jug of rich, tangy hollandaise could precede roast pork complete with crackling, jus, homemade rösti & chunky apple compote. A slice of fresh-from-the-oven Bakewell tart makes a generous finish. Staff are friendly & accommodating, while the helpfully annotated wine list has plenty to suit all tastes.
