For the fifth year running, The Oxford Times is joining forces with the charity StreetSmart to encourage diners to help the many in Oxfordshire who are either living on the streets or without a place to call home. It is a simple scheme, yet one which raised £27,000 in this county alone last year.
Thanks to the tremendous effort of the twenty-nine Oxfordshire dining establishments that participated in 2004, StreetSmart was able to help ten local charities. Money went to support organizations providing shelter and outreach services, helping vulnerable people recover from drug addiction and helping homeless people into work.
The restaurants taking part in this year's scheme will be listed regularly in The Oxford Times during November and December and, as we did last year, we will be encouraging our readers to take part by running a series of news reports and features.
I look forward to your support.
Yours sincerely,

Derek Holmes
